What to Expect on Test Day

The exam is conducted on a touchscreen computer at the CBR test center. It consists of 50 multiple-format questions designed to assess your knowledge and insight into traffic laws and safe driving practices. Once completed, you’ll receive your result immediately on screen and by email.

How Many Mistakes Can You Make?

Since April 2025, the new rule is simple:
You must get at least 44 out of 50 questions correct to pass.

  • Extra time and individually guided tests: 45 minutes total.

Types of Questions

The CBR uses various question types to evaluate your knowledge:

  • Yes / No
  • Multiple response (select all that apply)
  • Open/numeric answer
  • Hotspot (click on an image)

Many of these are accompanied by images or short video clips to test your real-world judgment.

Available Exam Types

The CBR offers three types of theory exams:

  • Regular exam: Standard version for most candidates.
  • Extra time exam: Includes 15 extra minutes and optional computer voice.
  • Individually guided exam: For people with conditions like autism or test anxiety. Taken in a private room, questions are read aloud either by a person or by computer.

All versions use the same question content.
